Brown, age 19, born in Maryland, and three servants, Lizzie Augwin, age 26, born Maryland, Maggie Coughlin, age 22, Born Missouri, and Edward Moore, age 25, born Illinois, parents born AR.

Mary Euphrasia BROWN [Parents] was born 29 Mar 1841 in Grantsville, Allegany Co., MD. She died 6 Jan 1909 in St. Luis, St. Louis Co., Missouri. Mary married John Andrew Jackson SHULTZ .

John Wesley HUGHES [Parents] [scrapbook] was born 4 Mar 1848 in Shaler Township, Allegheny County, PA and was employed 1900 in Locomotive Engineer. He died 18 Oct 1915 in St. Margaret's Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA and was buried 21 Oct 1915 in Greenwood Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA. John married Elizabeth.

Page 27 of the Etna Borough Centennial yearbook lists as borough clerk, J.W. Hughes 1893-1896.

1910 Census, Etna Borough, Other Townships, District 73, Image 15, records John W., age 62, living next door to Charles A. Hughes, with wife Elizabeth, age 61, Alfred C., age 36, George, age 29, and Lillian, age 26. John W. is a Justice of the Peace.  Alfred is a paper hanger, and George is a loborer at the rolling mill.

Death certificate indicates casue of death:  Mitral _______, Atrophic cirrhosis of liver.  Last residence 22 Griesmer St., Etna, PA. Occupation - Justice of the Peace.  Died St. Margarets Hospital. Undertaker - Holzheimur & Bock.

The Greenwood plot was bought in 1894 and  owned by John W. and Rev. Alfred Cauldwood, b. 1825, Eng. d. Feb. 8, 1895.  Lived in Sharpsburg w/ wife Eliza West Parke (m. Mar. 9, 1845, London.  I think Eliza was sister of Elizabeth West Hughes.

Elizabeth "Lizzie" was born Sep 1850 in Eng., migrated 1858. She married John Wesley HUGHES.

Orthelias A HUGHES [Parents] [scrapbook] "Theil" was born Aug 1852. He died 31 Jul 1930 and was buried 3 Aug 1930 in Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA. Theil married Lucy CROWTHERS.

BIOGRAPHY: Listed in 1870 Census, Etna Borough, Image 20, living with parents, 22 yoa, heater.

He is listed as "son" of William Hughes, age 70, and Maria A., age 68, in the June 1880 Census for Etna Borough (Image 11).  He resided at 102 Locust Street, Etna, right next door to Alonzo and Elwilda.  The census indicates he is 28 years old and employed as a heater in the rolling mill.

1910 Census, Etna Borough, Other Townships, District 73, Image 38, shows Orthelias, age 56, living with Lucy, age 43, Oliver, Age 17, Lloyd, age 14, Clara, age 11, and Violet, age 8.  Orthelias is employed as a janitor for a church, Oliver works as an oiler in a power house.

1930 Census, Etna Boro, District 598, Ward 2, page 31, shows Violet (27), Arthur (27), and Arthur Jr. (5) living with Orthelias (79) at 20 Garden Way. Arthur is employed as a carpenter's helper building houses.

Lucy CROWTHERS [scrapbook] was born Dec 1867 in West Virginia. She died 24 Jan 1919 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania and was buried 26 Jan 1919 in Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA. Lucy married Orthelias A HUGHES.

Lived at 264 Dewey Street.

Per Allegheny Cemetery records:  died of obstruction of the bowels, age 54, funeral director, L. Bienhauer, next of kin Mrs. E.B. Hultz.  Sec 22/103.

Arthur FOX [Parents] was born about 1878 in Kentucky and was employed 1930 in County Officer, Jefferson County, Kentucky. He married Evelyn DIXON.

BIOGRAPHY: Spent $15 on fireworks every July.  Oz Phillippy staid at Arthur Foxes home several times during several summers with David Fox, who was five year younger, between the years of 7 and 10 years old.  Zora then married Grimes when Oz was ten and at eleven years Zora divorced Grimes.

Evelyn DIXON [Parents] [scrapbook] "Eva" was born 9 May 1884 in Louisville, Kentucky. She died Apr 1972 in St. Petersburg, Florida and was buried 3 May 1972 in Cave Hill Cemetary, Louisville, Kentucky. Eva married Arthur FOX.

BIOGRAPHY: Eva changed her name to Evelyn later in life.

1900 Census, Hyde Park, Chicago, IL, lists Emma, age 51, head of household, residing with Zora I (born Aug 1876, Kentucky), Ethel C(born Aug 1880 in Indiana), and Eva (born May 1884 in Kentucky).  Occupation of Emma shows "N.G. 0-0-3".  All three children listed as music students.
