Peter FIKE [Parents] was born 3 Nov 1794 in Somerset, Bedford Co., PA. He died 28 Nov 1871 in Near Eglon, West Virginia and was buried in Orphants Home Farm, 2 Miles SE Of Eglon.. Peter married Magdalene ARNOLD on 12 Mar 1818 in Beaver Run, Hampshire Co., West Virginia.

There is a memorial stone for Peter near Eglon WV, that is near his burial site.  Peter was one of the first German Baptist settlers in the area and the German Baptist Chruch (church of the Brethern)that serves the area first met in his home.

Peter SR. married Magdalene Arnold of Bulington, West Virginia; settled near Somerset Pennsylvani, then Maple Grove, Maryland, then New Germany, then Indian Creek, Pennsylvania, then Sang Run, Maryland, then Eglon, West Virginia, where he died.  History of the Ancestry of the Fikes, Elder Emra T. After marriage, Peter and Magdalene moved ot near Somerset, PA, then soldhis farm to his brother Christian, and moved to Maple Grove.  After improving this farm, he sold it and bought near New Germany, Maryland, and then after improving it, he sold and bought a farm of four hundred acres on Indian Creek, Pennsylvania, Springfield Township in 1837. But times became dull, horses selling for $12 to $40; cows $5 to $8; Sheep 50 cents to 75 cents; eggs three cents, which necessitated the selling of the farm to John I Murray, and passed through a number of hands.  Moved to Sang Run, Garrett County, Maryland in 1851, and took charge of the old Browning mill, which he operated for three years.  In the spring of 1854, he moved to the farm two miles southeast of Eglon, which he bought from Mr. Gilmer.  S A Fike moved to this vacinity in April, and soon the entire family of 10 children moved here.  

Peter had two months of schooling and his wife one, but both learned to read English and German.  They raised a very healthy family, the entire family lived until the youngest was 55.  History of the Ancestry of the Fikes, Elder Emra F. Fike, 1725-1927.

Magdalene ARNOLD [Parents] was born 16 Nov 1796 in Beaver Run, Burlington, Hampshire Co., West Virginia. She died 16 Sep 1883 in Eglon, Preston Co., West Virginia and was buried 19 Sep 1883 in Old Orphan's Cemetery, Eglon, Preston Co., West Virginia. Magdalene married Peter FIKE on 12 Mar 1818 in Beaver Run, Hampshire Co., West Virginia.

Peter and Magdalene moved from PA to Eglon WV in 1854.

Samuel was a Dunkard minister at Beaver Run. He lived on the John Leatherman place located on the south side of route 50 across from the Zacharia Arnold farm. His brother Zacharia who built the ancient log house called the Chesire House.

Elder Sam Arnold married Mary Mollie Ludwig;they had two sons and ten daughters.  It is said he owned the first top buggy in the neighborhood, and people came far and near to see the buggy.  On March 29, 1831, he had a span of colts hitched to the buggy and they ran away and killed him.  He was a minister of great activity being the first of the Brethren to preach in the Eglon Con., which was near Sunnyside, Maryland, causing quite a stir.  He was known as the preacher with a beard.

Mary Mollie LUDWIG [Parents] was born 23 SEP 1771 (1765?) in Middletown Valle, Fredericks Co., Md. She died 17 JUL 1853 (1831?) in Moorefield Junct, Hampshire, WV. Mary married Elder Samuel ARNOLD on 15 Apr 1788.

Text: ...Mary "Mollie" Ludwick. She was possibly a sister of Jacob Ludwick who had married Samuel's half sister. Samuel and Jacob were neighbors. Jacob lived a short distance eastward toward Junction and couple years south of Route 50.
