Web pages concerning Andreas Blocher - some inconsistencies:

Comparing the three following web pages:

The Blocher Seven Generation Chart
"Family Group Sheet"
Our Family Chronicle: The Blocher Family
According to The Blocher Seven Generation Chart, Andreas had 18 children, of which Peter is the first listed, Matthias is 6th, and Anna Catharina is the 12th listed. The birth dates show that certain births are within 9 months of each other, specifically Johann Georg and Andreas (Jr.), which are listed as 2nd and 3rd born, and Christian and Johannes, listed as 8th and 9th born. Also, the second Christina and Anna, listed as 16th and 17th are shown being born on the same day, implying that they were twins. Since there are two daughter named Christina (listed as 5th and 16th, where the date given for the first one's death is 1804) and two Johannes's (listed as 9th and 15th), and since there are seemingly biologically implausible birth dates, it is suspected that this record may be the mixture of two different families of Blocher. Perhaps many of the children listed were born to related Blochers and were adopted by Andreas Blocher and Anna Maria Wegennast.

Andreas and Anna Catharina had 17 children, according to the web page: "Family Group Sheet". This page omits Peter and shows the 5th listed as Mathias Blocher (1730-1803) who emigrated to Manheim Twp. in York County, PA, then married Barbara Schwab in 1759 at Trappe, Montgomery County, PA. According to this web page, Anna Catharina Blocher* (b. 1739), was the 11th child of Andreas and Margaretha. The birth dates and order of the children on this page are non-biologically overlapping, and also indicate that the second Christina and Anna were twins.

The web page: Our Family Chronicle: The Blocher Family, does not show a list of children of Andreas Blocher and Anna Maria Wegennast, but is centered only on Mathias Blocher who married Barbara Schwabin (or "Schwab" as reported in the "Family Group Sheet"). Each of the other web pages show the similar named spouse for Mathias, the same-named, son Joseph and daughter-in-law, and grandchild, Samuel, as listed in this "Our Family Chronicle" web page. The "Our Family Chronicle" web page, shows that Mathias emigrated with two brothers, "Peter", and "John" to settle in Hanover, PA. One of the other web page shows no sibling to Mathias named "Peter" but both list Johann Georg Blocher (oldest child) whose death is not shown, and two Johannes Blochers, any of whom could be known as "John".

The "Our Family Chronicle" web page, also states that Mathias and his brothers Peter and John emigrated to escape a military draft of young men over 16 years old, and so they "slipped out of Germany in 1753". according to the birth dates on the other two web pages, Mathias would have been 23-24 years old and Peter and Johann would have been 27-28 years old.

It would seem at first glance that these records are somewhat inconsistent. One is missing "Peter", and there are minor differences in the immigrant children's settlement locations in PA. Also, the "Our Family Chronicle" web page states that Mathias Blocker's family was Jewish and had a tradition of naming all their children with biblical names, however, some of the names in the other web pages are not typical of Jewish names, especially the two daughters named "Christina", a son named "Christian" and, "Anna Maria", Anna Catharina", "Margarethe", and "Elisabeth". The sheer number of 17 children also seems excessive (although possible), suggesting either that Andreas had more than one wife and/or that some of their children were adopted cousins of their natural children.

Leonard was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, served in the in the Maryland German Regiment under Col. Weltner. Leonard is also listed as a private in Capt Henry Fisher's Company in the German Battalion commanded by Col. Nicholas Hussecker in 1776.

Hampshire Co. Minute Book, 15 Apr 1799, pg 416 - Henry Hawk is appointed surveyor of the road from Benjamin Huffmans on Mill Creek to Crossleys place in the room of Leonard Ludwick...

Excerpt from History of Leonard & Katharine Ludwick - Mrs. Owan Crickard.
Early deeds in Washington County, MD, show that Leonard bought 14 acres of land from Jost Gardner and wife Anna in 1785 and sold the same tract to John Wals in 1787. Leonard came to the South Brach Valley (Hampshire Co. WV) in 1788 and purchased 100 acress of land from John Cuppy, Jr. and wife Elizabeth. In 1790 he bought and additial 31 acres from the same John Cuppy, Jr. Since he was not
listed in the 1790 census of Hampshire Co., WV, it is assumed that he may have been traveling at the time.

EGNJ show William, George and Peter as brothers who settled in the Alexandria area. Therefore, the assignment of children to the two immigrant brothers by GMNJ is probably wrong, i.e. Joanis Wilhelm (William), Joanis Gerard ( George) and Joanis Peter (Peter) all belong in one family. I have assigned them to Zacharais because of the age of the eldest but they could just as earily belong to Johan Wilhelm (who would have been only 19 when William was born - not unheard of. Also the names all beginning with some form of John might suggest this is the more likely father). From cousin Jane Drever.
Charles Carroll Gardner Associated Editor of the Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey says this is Peter Alpock. He says Peter Alpock, (Alpough, Ohlbach) b 1730-45, and possibly identical with Joanis Peter Albach, son of William, mentioned on p. 74; d at Little York, in Alexandria tp., before 1786; md. Anna Engle, dau of Jacob Engel of knowlton, and prob. the "widow Allpock" taxed in Alexandria in 1786. He is said by Chanbers to have been brother to William, of High Bridge. All but the oldest on of this children were bapt. in the Alexandria German Reformed Church, of which he was an Elder in 1771 and 1772. (NJPRO; Jerseyman 3:38-45; CEG:232-5; NJA 35:135.

Johan Wilhelm ALBAUGH was born 8 Mar 1722/1723 in Eichen, Germany. He died 13 Apr 1817 and was buried in Lebanon, Hunterdon, NJ.

FA1: Died at age 94
_FA2: Buried in Lebanon, Hunterdon, NJ
Note:
There is no record later of a John or a William of this age in Hunterdon. There is, however, a John William (noted to be a brother of George and Peter) with a reported DOB of 1732. Per GMNJ, this date is derived from his date of death which reported him as 85 in 1817. But the only J.W. to arrive on the Hope in 1734 was 11 years old (therefore born 1723-24). Maybe the 85 reported above should be 95
Also Albach. Jane Drever.
Charles Carroll Gardner Associated Editor of the Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey notes.
