History of the Werner mill provided by Karlheinz Lichau of Ober Ohman, indicates that the mill existed since 1592, and Johann ludwig inherited the mill from his father Johannes Caspar.  Ultimately he sold the mill in 1841 to Konrad Queckborner and the Volzing family, its current owner.

Ludwig, at age 64, left Germany on the Bark Pioneer with wife Catharina, out of Bremen on July 1, 1841.  The arrived on Sept 2, 1841.  They were accompanied by their children Conrad (age 33), Ann Mary (18), John (age 29, a shoemaker) and his wife Elizabeth (29)and children, Elizabeth (8), Margaret (6), Elise (4), and Henry (1).  Their last dwelling place was
Oberwerheim.

1850 Allegeny County Census, Dist 2, Image 1, lists "Henry", age 43, and Catherine, age 42. Louis(Ludwig), age 76, and Catherine, age 67, are residing with them, along with 7 of Henry's children.
